“Corridor breathes new life into theatre festival” ...the new impulse is without a doubt partly due to the totally new lay-out of the Parade, the city square at the foot of the Sint Jan (gothic cathedral). The person responsible for this is the artist, Jeroen Doorenweerd. His Corridor is a splendid example of applied art. Splitting the square diagonally with a huge structure of iron scaffolding he creates an exciting open space in the Parade, making more room and putting an end to the previous unimaginative walk around the square. The work of art is, in itself, a miracle of spatial possibilities, offering on its upper deck a mini-boulevard, an elevated “pavement” café, opportunities to climb or hang from the structure and a marvellous view, from up above, of the music stage and the surging crowd “outside”.
