Brutalist Villa van Wassenhove by Juliaan Lampens In 1992 I made a work in the garden of the museum in the context of a small group show. It outlasted the duration of the show and became part of the collection. The work remained in place for over 15 years during which it served many uses like stage, barbecue table, playground or catwalk. None of these were intended but I welcomed 'abuse' of the work in this manner. Now, almost 25 years later, I will do a residency in the Villa van Wassenhove to reflect upon the past, present and future of the Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, based upon conversations with stakeholders; museum staff, artists, gallery owners, collectors, critics, curators, neighbors, visitors, etc. The purpose: a non-committal proposal for a new work in the garden.
