“The chair will probably give rise to more exciting disputes on March 7th, when the Faculty of Social Sciences invites Bishop Ernst and professors Walter Goddijn and Ruud de Moor to take their seats in it for a discussion of the dialogue - or the lack of it - between the Catholic Church and modern society. Doorenweerd is agreeably surprised that his design is “going its own way”. “I had pictured it in different locations, for instance in an ordinary room. There is often a lot of background noise if you really want to talk to someone. There’s usually a table in the middle and a cup of coffee. The double chair offers peace and concentration; if you sit in it you remain seated”. In other words a useful object wherever in-depth discussions need to be held; in boardrooms, at the therapist’s, in the talk show.” (Edith Schoots, reporting in NRC Handelsblad)
