Delaere and Doorenweerd battled in the analogue room made for a Doorenweerd show in de Lakenhal, in Leiden, in 2009. The room was rebuilt (and soon deconstructed) in the Centraal Museum Studio. The 'recipe': to paint in turn on the walls and ceiling, without prior consultation or final objective, just continuously to paint a new layer on top of each others 'work', indiscriminately. The BATTLE was open to the public while the artists were working. 'We are both aiming for a point at where control gives way to direct experience. No idea what the outcome will be.'
